Pueblo County

(House District 60) – Michelle Gray, current Pueblo County Republican Party Chair and Patriot, has announced a run for Colorado House District 60 which includes the counties of Chaffee, Custer, Fremont, Pueblo, and Teller. It’s widely considered a conservative bastion in the State, and it is represented by Representative Stephanie Luck.
While widely considered to be a Primary Election entry into the race, as of 12:45p (MST) Representative Luck had yet to file with the Secretary of State’s Office. Despite rumor, no primary exists, and Michelle Gray is the lone Patriot in the race to succeed Ms. Luck.
As a Christian, wife, mother and teacher – The Pueblo County Republican Chair enters the race with a wealth of knowledge and conservative philosophy and vision that is surely to resonate with the voters of the 5 counties she intends to represent.
Michelle stated, “This has long been in my thoughts, and regardless of the social media attacks on my decision, this was a decision that I came to through prayer and consultation with my family. There is not a soul in world that could have convinced me that this was the best way to have impact on the District and the entire state other than God and my family.”
Small communities, great vistas, diversity, agriculture, affordability and safety are at the forefront for folks living and working in House District 60. Michelle’s proven record of conservative activism and results driven approaches to challenging political issues is exactly what the people in HD60 are yearning for.
Michelle intends to challenge the status quo in Denver, and she will use her elected title to garner results for the District and to put a laser like focus on flipping other seats in the Colorado State House of Representatives.
Michelle stated, “In a safe Republican District like HD60, it offers a platform to do good work for other Member’s of the House that don’t have the luxury or political capital to ensure other wins in this upcoming election. That has been something that has been lacking, but when opportunity knocks, we have to bottom line it for the Party, and do good work, not only for the people of HD60, but for the entire state. Where can I have the most impact? That’s at the State House representing a constituency that values conservative principled beliefs. I’m that person and that candidate.”
Representative Luck is considered a top tier Liberty Score card Representative, when Michelle was asked how she would continue that streak she said, “I appreciate Stephanie’s service and her documented scores, but one area in which we differ is the votes on ag, water, and rural health care. While Stephanie has been a stalwart for the score, there are votes out there that have made me wince a bit. As the old saying goes, “you need to dance with the one that brung ya.” I’ll take my chance on a somewhat lower score in an effort to support and enhance the communities I plan to represent. However, from what I know and have experienced with Stephanie, I don’t think our political philosophy is all that different, but again, we need to use safe seats across the state to flex the numbers. I plan to do just that when elected.”
When asked about what she thought about Stephanie’s political future, Michelle responded, I think she would make a great State Senator if things work out for Baisley, and there would be an opportunity on the Fremont County Board of Commissioners at a much higher salary than that of a State Representative. Regardless, I thank Stephanie for her service. We just have very different approaches to what we see as impact and representation. I’m certain she will do well at whatever she decides to do outside of her current role, but if a Primary election exists, I have to honor those trusted voices from the 5 counties that have come to me to seek my participation in this process. I’m not in this to lose in any way shape or form. Healthy primaries can and do exists. Let’s keep it classy.”
