Is Not a Journalist - but a producer of Fake News

The publisher of the local and FAILING newspaper under his watch does NOT report the news, but creates the news. In other words, a producer of misleading and fake news.
His latest creation is his attack against County Commissioner Sean Pond. Yes, it is the duty and responsibility of a free press to report the news, and investigate wrongdoing especially against elected and government officials. It is NOT to MOCK the spouse of an elected official. In this case, the publisher mocked Sean’s wife for a gift she gave him that he posted on facebook.
Why would any legitimate publisher, journalist or reporter spend their time and energy attacking a spouse over a personal gift item? A legitimate reporter or journalist would focus on the elected official’s conduct in office and policies, but then the Montrose Press publisher abuses his power with creation stories, fake news, and libelous statements against anyone he opposes. Per Sean’s letter in yesterday’s Mirror edition, he is asking who is the Press Publisher? What are his credentials? Who gave him the right to smear those he opposes? (Copy of the letter is in today’s DOGE Report.) That is not journalism! Unfortunately, it is FAKE NEWS that we witness almost on a daily basis in the national news media.
The publisher took it a further step by calling another County official and falsely claiming that Sean attacked her and her office. It was a BIG LIE! The other County official publicly over reacted based on disinformation provided to her, so now the publisher has his new headline by attacking Sean for alleged abuse against the other County official. An abuse allegation created by the publisher!!! Yes, in our opinion, the County official over reacted without having all the facts and truth; and as Sean stated in another letter she failed to contact him first for his side of the story. A copy of Sean’s letter to the local paper in response to these events is also in today’s DOGE Report. Please note the publisher failed to print his letter without edits, so Sean posted the complete letter on facebook three days ago, so the reader would have the full and honest truth.
Yes, the other County official made a mistake, but the BLAME falls directly and solely on the publisher for his role of blatant misconduct and creating news that all started with his personal and childish attack against Sean’s wife. Again, that is NOT journalism! It is, however, just one example why the local paper is losing subscribers while its competitor has surpassed it with far more subscribers and continues to grow as a source for news as well as editorials representing the political spectrum of left and right.
