Who are the Democratic Socialists of America…Really?

Who makes up the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA)? The DSA is made up of approximately 85% Whites (70% of them have a college degree). They are focused in large urban areas in predominantly blue states.  Most of those who have degrees have thousands of dollars of college debt, and they pay high dollars for rent which they cannot afford. They have degrees in sociology, psychology, public policy, gender studies, race studies, etc., yet they are poorly educated and have a strong sense of self. In other words, they are ignorant and arrogant. They look around and see highly successful people who have beautiful homes and they feel that they should have the same because “we’re just like them.” Well, they are not, because they chose majors that put them in debt, and did not prepare them to get good jobs. So, they became socialists, though they probably want to be capitalists in reality. In my opinion, they would have been better off training in a vocational field where they could be making $75+/hour as a plumber or electrician!

In our country, 65% of Americans own homes. This shows that people are still able to afford a home, but the socialists claim that people are not able to afford them. That might be true for a small percentage of the population, especially Millennials and GenZ’rs who want to live in cities, but overall, it is not true. Because of where most socialists choose to live, housing is unaffordable, but if they chose to live outside urban areas, housing is affordable in most cases.

The socialists claim that inflation has gone up since President Trump took office, but let’s look at the numbers. The aggregate inflation rate now is about 2.9 (and will probably get higher because of oil). However, under Joe Biden, the average rate was 5.3. Car and home insurance, food, gas, diesel, the price of cars and homes went up over 21% during Biden’s four years. Thus, the affordability argument that DSA candidates are espousing is ludicrous in light of the numbers under Biden. If Kamala Harris had become president, the numbers would have continued to rise because of socialists’ policies. 

Most Americans have jobs and live responsibly and aren’t socialists. They don’t feel entitled to houses or cars but are willing to put in hard work to support their families. Socialists want everything handed to them. In part one, I mentioned that the DSA believes everyone is entitled to a home (and everything else) without having to work. That is unsustainable.

Let’s look at the symptoms of DSA people which I covered in the first editorial. They have an agenda to open borders, give amnesty to illegals, and conflate citizenship and mere residency. They want higher taxes on citizens including unrealized profits and net worth, more entitlements, DEI, and they believe in the Marxist binary that our country has no middle class. They want the New Green Deal, end fossil fuels, have a socialist economy and appropriate private property, utilities, airlines, and private wealth. They want no relationship with Israel, and have deep-seated antisemitism which is revealed in their social media accounts. They seem to have an anti-White theme as well, which is ironic since most of the DSA are White.

Roughly three groups make up the DSA:

1. Urban people who are consumers and not producers

2. Many of their parents are first or second-generation immigrants from former failed socialist/communist Third World systems. Ironically, their parents came to the U.S. to get away from a failed system. They want to destroy the very system their family fled to and reenact the failed system they left behind. Of course, it doesn’t help that the universities and media teach them to hate America.

3. DEI people who identify as victims and want more affirmative action and reparatory treatment.

Overall, the DSA is bad news for our country. The communists have tried to win elections since the 1920’s (Eugene Debs, for example), but the American people have risen up against every attempt. Let’s hope and pray that we continue to stand up against this destructive ideology and protect our constitutional way of life.
