OHEEJ is responsible for ongoing environmental justice work, including administration of environmental health mitigation grants through the Community Impact Cash Fund.

- GENTAX & DRIVES SUPPORT FUNDING: The bill includes an increase of $714,515 total funds and 8.3 FTE, comprised of $442,906 General Fund and $271,609 cash funds from the Colorado DRIVES Vehicle Services. Account, in FY 2024-25. Funds will address the backlog of upgrades and system enhancements to the DRIVES and GenTax systems stemming from legislative, user experience, and system operational demands.
Governor Polis Commutes Tina Peters Sentence
In a surprise move, Colorado Governor Jared Polis commuted the nine-year sentence handed down to Tina Peters. I guess with Governor Polis approaching his final months as Governor, he is trying to appear more moderate in a bid for future higher office. Unsurprisingly, the left is having an unmitigated meltdown unseen by anyone in recent years for the freeing of a political prisoner.
The Facts of the Case
Peters, the former Mesa County Clerk, was targeted after allowing an unauthorized cybersecurity expert access to county voting equipment in 2021. Her goal was to investigate potential irregularities tied to the 2020 election. A jury convicted her on several counts, including attempting to influence a public servant. She received nine years in prison. An appeals court later upheld the conviction but struck down the sentence, ruling the judge had improperly punished her for protected political speech.
Remorse Under Pressure
While Peters did the typical “confession” when these things happen, showing remorse, the reality is that those of us who have been seeing the wide scale fraud unfold over the past six years see more than confirming the truth we all knew. Peters’ conciliatory tone and “confession” of general wrongdoing is a necessary evil due to the circumstances.
We Are Glad You Are Free
We are glad you will be free on June 1, Tina. We have all known that this was a political prosecution when we saw another prosecution that took place that was essentially the same trumped-up charges and they received probation when you received nine years in prison. Former Democratic state senator Sonya Jaquez Lewis was convicted of attempting to influence a public official and related felonies yet walked away with probation and community service. Peters sentence was the result of an activist judge trying to send a message that “dissent will not be tolerated in the Communist Republic of Colorado”.
Hypocrisy Exposed
Democrat candidate for Governor of Colorado, Phil “the Weasel” Wieser and Democrat candidate for AG, “Crazy Eyes” Jena Griswald both had their meltdowns on X after the commutation was announced. It was obvious they were hoping that Tina would die in prison to ensure that she would never have the chance to be free again.
The decision follows pressure from President Trump and reflects growing recognition that the original punishment was wildly disproportionate for a first-time, non-violent offender. Justice finally prevails for a woman who dared to ask questions the ruling class never wanted answered.
