Sponsored and condoned by Montrose City Council for years, the actions by YOUR current and former
City Councils under the direction of City Manager Bill Bell have led us to this operative phrase:

"Rubber Stamping and Head Nodding – Why Not if Bill says it’s OK?"

Here’s an overview of your current City Council:

• Together, the entire Council represents 50 years of control of our City.

• The average age of Councilmembers is 76.

• This Council utilizes Tag team policies to avoid and warp Sunshine laws to fit their purposes:

- Walking quorums are common – discussion amongst Council members can include no more than 2 members at a time, so end runs around the law take place – the Mayor talks to the Mayor Pro Tem (Vice Mayor); each then speak to another Council member and so on until all are informed and predecisional votes are tallied.

- Every Thursday before the next Council meeting, Manager Bell meets exclusively with the Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem to discuss agenda items and other matters – not a good look. You can be sure it leads to a “walking quorum” and backroom deals.

• All of these combined collusion actions breed confusion in the community.

• Results in wasteful spending of YOUR tax dollars on pet projects and taking care of friends.

• The tail is wagging the dog - 15 years of Manager Bill Bell and his “Bloat” policies.

• Time for term limits?  Time for Town Hall?   Time to VOTE!

Carte Blanche spending authority given him by Council – up to $50,000 in check writing permission out of the City checkbook for whatever he wants to bypass Council on with spending authority of up to $20,000 on contracts. Stay tuned.
